Screening at Austin City Hall

On April 24th, 2024, a uniquely powerful screening of AN ARMY OF WOMEN was held at Austin City Hall. The plaintiffs and subjects of the film sat side by side with the City of Austin, the Austin Police Department, and the Travis County District Attorney’s Office to view the film, describing it as “going head first into the hornet’s nest“.

Two proclamations were given by Austin City Council members in support of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Many members of the audience wore denim in honor of Denim Day, showing support and standing in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault.

No one deserves to experience sexual assault, and when sexual assault does happen in our community, survivors deserve access to healing and justice.” – Alison Alter, Austin City Council Member

Austin City Hall is depicted in the film, and is where many survivor testimonies have been given over the years. This was a crucial event to reflect on the progress of the survivors and the work that still lies ahead.
